First Aid Training Kits

Part of first aid training is teaching you to always be prepared in the event of an emergency. That does not mean that you have to walk around with a loaded doctor bag everywhere that you go but it does mean that you should have a few functional first aid kits in specific locations such as one in your home and maybe one in your car.

You can buy these kits pre made but you might find that they do not have everything that you might need in them and you will have likely paid more than you should for it. In first aid training they will give you a list of things that should be in your first aid kit. There is a lot more to a functional first aid kit then a few band aids - a couple alcohol swabs - some gauze - and adhesive.

A well put together first aid kit should include the following items: absorbent compress dressings - numerous band aids in various sizes - adhesive tape - antibiotic ointment - antiseptic wipes - aspirin - a blanket - a breathing barrier - an instant cold compress - non latex gloves - hydrocortisone ointment - scissors - roller bandages in different sizes - sterile gauze pads in different sizes - an oral thermometer - triangular bandages - tweezers - and a flashlight with extra batteries.

This first aid kit should be assembled so that everything is visible and accessible without having to take the entire kit apart. Also - you may have to custom the kit a bit differently if you are going camping - or are going to be in the wilderness. First aid training will give you some tips and ideas of how to assemble your fist aid kits appropriately for each occasion. Many find that a decent sized plastic tackle box works great for the assembly of your kit.

To prepare a more advanced first aid kit you may want to include some other things such as activated charcoal - anti diarrhea medicine - Benadryl - an EpiPen - and any other medications that you or someone in your family takes on a regular basis but you have to make sure that you check regularly that they do not expire. The first aid kit that you keep in your car might very some as well.

The key is being prepared all the time and doing that might also include not mistaking a first aid kit for an emergency disaster kit or a kit that you keep in your car that includes flares and extra blankets. These are all separate kits and should be treated as such.

First aid training classes equip you with skills that one day may allow you to contribute to saving someone else's life and they also teach you about the importance of being prepared in all situations which is why various first aid kits are needed.

Circumstances and situations are not always the same which is why you may have to add a few different things depending on the cause of your particular first aid kit. Quality first aid kits ensure that you will be able to take care of minor emergencies that are not life threatening as well as those that might be.
